Using Music to Make a Difference
Published By Katherine Rodota on November 8, 2012
Whole Planet Foundation has started an initiative called Musicians for Microfinance as a way to engage the music community and its fans in awareness raising and fundraising. The program features digital album and track downloads, in-store performances, and benefit concerts to help empower women around the world to change their own lives. To date, the Musicians for Microfinance program has raised 6784 dollars, impacting the lives of 245 people. In select Whole Foods markets, they have started a program called Download for a Difference. Select stores are selling digital download “CD’s” featuring fifteen tracks for five dollars. Half the proceeds go to the Whole Planet Foundation, and the other half is split between their partners Inspire and Four Winds Trading Company. Visit a Whole Foods store to get your copy and help make a difference!
